The new downpipe is a totally new, breakthrough design, which sets it apart from all of the current, single-cat downpipes available for the new generation 3.0l V6 engine, with its twin scroll, single-turbo.
Supersprint has ventured into designing a Twin-Catalytic D/P system, for more overall volume, much smoother exhaust gas flow and a higher efficiency, for a superior increase in performance.
This same exhaust design is found on the more powerful, twin-turbocharger 2.9l V6 engine of the 2018 RS5.
By designing a perfectly smooth Y-section, placed just downstream of the turbo, round-section discharging flange, and using HJS Motorsport twin catalytics, fitting them within the tight confines of the engine's V, the overall volume and the combined cross section of the piping are greater than even the largest, single cat available in the Motorsport Industry.
A beneficial, side effect of this design is the total elimination of the obnoxious whistle noise, genarated by the stock catalytic Y-split sharper section.
The R&L downpipes are made with oversize tubing, which merge further downstream into a single pipe mid-section, built with huge, 80mm tubing.
The perfect, most precise routing of the Supersprint exhausts' main pipe retains a perfectly round shape, all along its entire path.
This is totally opposite to the stock exhaust system, which is heavily crushed in the area of the rear Sport differential; the far-from-ideal, factory exhaust design reduces the section down to a smaller area, and compromises the flow rate, making the resriction effect of the stock catalytic even worse.
Supersprint changes this all, using its massive, 80mm pipe, and then splitting it again just past the differential into two separate, R&L oversize branches, each 65mm.
The Supersprint R&L rear mufflers, with their straight-thru inner core design, offer a dual-sound mode, thanks the the opening / closing flaps, which re-route the exhaust gas path to a silenced section of the canisters, for a tamer note.
The control/select button of the Audi driving management system then lets the sound be changed at will, either manually, or via the pre-set driving modes; exactly as it is done with the factory exhaust.
As usual, Supersprint developes and builds the individual components in house, including the exclusive, precision machined flaps.
No modification is needed for installing this Supersprint system.
Tested in house on Supersprint's Maha, all-wheel braked dyno, the gains in midrange and peak hp are impressive, averaging + 25 Hp.
For even greater gains, we strongly recommend a tune for higher turbo boost pressure, thus taking the most advantage of the Supersprint exhausts' higher flowing capability.
Speaking in terms of cross-section and piping volume, the capacity of this full Supersprint exhaust is 450+ Hp, which instantly thrusts the S5 into the RS5 league.
Supersprint's proven quality approach guarantees the best fitment, overall finish and durability of our exhaust.
