Supersprint Exhaust for MERCEDES R230 SL 55 AMG V8 Kompressor '01 ->'06

Here is the Supersprint original long tube headers project for the 2001-2006 SL 55 AMG Kompressor V8, the very first MB AMG model to be equipped with the legendary M113 Supercharged 5.5l engine.

As opposed to the earlier M113 N/A engine version, the Supercharged M113 (Kompressor) made lots of extra hp at peak; but most important, it made way more torque in the low and mid rpm range, as well.

In spite of the impressive acceleration and top speed, we knew that a lot of performance has been left on the table; our R&R Team, here at Supersprint in Italy, made the plan to set it free, simple as it was.

On the SL 55 AMG, working on the cat-back exhaust section had no effect; it made not one extra hp over stock.

We proved it over and over again on the dyno, measuring exhaust gas backpressure and temperature alongside the power and torque curves.

This engine needed more extensive work, in a different, specific area of the exhaust; that is where all of the extra Hp was hiding.

Blame it on the awfully small, necked down log manifolds, and on the heavily restrictive stock quad-catalytic.

For some reason (emission-related), the AMG factory R&D Team of engineers had given the SL 55 a nice, great flowing cat-back exhaust, but they must have had their hands tied behind their back, when designing the headers and catalytic.

The Supersprint long primary tube headers and the HJS Motorport, high volume metallic cats system finally does justice to the SL 55; it turns the performance around, ensuring a gain of + 40 / + 50 Nm throughout the powerband, and + 30 Hp at peak.

Also, it reduces heat soak, making the performance more consistent, and it provides for a substantial reduction in weight as well.
At the same time, it makes the sound roaring deep when lugging the engine in the mid rpm, and screaming wildly, up on top.

With the Supersprint full exhaust in place, the light-in-the-back, powerful SL 55 AMG makes a perfect statement for "Muscle Car", "Supercharged", "Spinning Tires".

As usual, it installs easily, without the engine being removed or lifted, needing no modifications.

We guarantee precise fitment, unmatched performance gains, great sound and legendary durability.

As the SL 55 AMG is quickly re-gaining value as a Classic Sport Roadster, the Supersprint Oversize diameter stainless exhaust is the perfect complement to it, and it is still available in its original form.
