When AMG introduced the Kompressor technology, raising the performance of the M113 5.5l V8 engine to the next level, we recognized that the potential for more torque and more peak hp had become even greater.
Getting the best out of this magnificent powerplant is the only reason why we have developed a long tube headers system for the 2002-2006 E55#AMG Kompressor V8 Wagon.
Although this engine did not rev as high as the later generation M156 6.2l V8, it had way more torque in the low and mid rpm range.
Regardless of the brilliant work done by the R&D team at the AMG Factory, a lot of performance has been left on the table; we at Supersprint made the plan to set it free, as simple as it was.
We soon found out, working on the cat-back exhaust section had no effect; it made not one extra hp over stock. We proved it over and over again on the dyno.
This car needs more extensive exhaust work, focusing in a different, specific area of the system; that is where all of the extra Hp is hiding.
The blame is on the awfully small diameter log manifolds, and on the heavily restrictive, stock quad-catalytic.
Our long tube headers and the HJS Motorport, R&L high flowing metallic cats system does just that; it turns the performance around, ensuring a gain of + 40 / + 50 Nm throughout the powerband, and a massive + 45 Hp at peak.
At the same time, it makes the sound deep, throaty when lugging the engine in the mid rpm, without any droning, and wildly screaming up on top of the powerband.
With the Supersprint full exhaust in place, the E 55 AMG makes the perfect statement for "Big Bore", "Supercharged", "Monumental Torque".
Smoking tires is a welcome by-product of our headers system.
As the E 55 AMG is quickly becoming a Contemporary Classic, re-gaining the value it deserves, the Supersprint Oversize diameter stainless exhaust is the perfect complement to it; and we guarantee that it is still available in its original form.
A long-term investment every E55 owner should consider.
