Unfortunately, the stock system is far from being ideal, as it uses a set of extremely restrictive, ceramic core catalytics with a very high (dense) cell count, limiting the true potential of the engine, neutralizing the flowing capability of the free-flowing muffler.
Supersprint developed a set of R&L Turbo Downpipes with integrated catalytics, using the largest-volume, 200 cpsi HJS Motorsport units available.
These new Supersprint Cats are designed with our proprietary, smooth-bend collectors, providing for a massive reduction in exhaust gas backpressure, an increased spooling efficiency, and a relieved thermal stress on the Turbochargers.
This Supersprint exhaust design ensures higher boost pressure, for more torque in the low and mid rpm range, and higher hp at peak.
It also guarantees a more consistent engine performance, thanks to the reduced heat soak.
The placement of the ports for the secondary, by-pass tubing (which are active in the closed-flap mode, routing the exhaust gas to the quiet section of the muffler) does not hamper the flow path of the exhaust gas when in the full power, louder mode (open-flap).
Another positive side effect is, the sound is greatly enhanced, in both of the sound modes.
The installation is a simple, bolt-on job, no modification required.
We also offer a special version of the same downpipes, built with HJS Motorsport 100 cpsi cats; the exhaust flow rate equalling exactly a straight -pipe, cat-less configuration.
