The N62 engine has huge potential, unfortunately it is chocked down by an overly restrictive factory #exhaust, courtesy of the stringent emission regulations.
This was the first, newer generation BMW V8 engine equipped with the factory catalytics placed harmfully close to the engine.
This design hurts the exhaust gas flow so bad, that it totally wreacks havoc on the performance, killing both the torque in the low / mid rpm range and the peak hp.
Unfortunately, this exhaust makes no justice to this BMW high peformance SUV.
The Supersprint long tube headers system, with its downstream re-located, high flowing HJS Motorsport catalytics, provides for an astounding gain of + 35 Hp, and + 50 Nm torque.
Also, with the addition of the Supersprint resonator + rear mufflers, the engine finally makes the deep roar everyone is expecting from.
