Supersprint has once again put a milestone in the performance exhaust market for the Mercedes cars.
The Supersprint R&D crew has designed, developed and crafted a unique, stainless steel full performance exhaust system for the CL 65 AMG V12, with long tube, oversize diameter turbo down pipes and high flow Metallic catalytic converters, mated to a specific, V12 tuned X-pipe center section and free-flow rear mufflers.
This has been a world first in the performance exhaust industry. Each one of the individual components of the Supersprint exhaust has been designed and tested to work at its best when mated together with the others, with the specific goal of getting the most performance from the AMG V12 bi-Turbo engine.
Up to date, the Supersprint CL 65 AGM V12 exhaust still remains the best, full performance system for this car. This twin downpipe, oversize 2 x 76mm exhaust includes special HJS-Emitec Metallic catalytic converters.
The system then shrinks down to 70mm mid-pipes with built-in "crossover" section (X-pipe), and quad-tip, oval design rear mufflers, each with a straight-thru silencer canister. While the huge increase in performance is immediately noticeable, the overall sound is also simply amazing. No rear muffler or cat-back system alone can equal the deep, sporty sound of the full Supersprint exhaust. Turning the engine on and blipping the gas pedal lets everyone know that this is not a stock CL 65 by no means.
Rear mufflers

The Supersprint Right & Left rear mufflers use the Free-Flow design, typical of all of the Supersprint performance systems. Contrary to the stock muffler system, which uses the baffled, resonated chamber design, this exclusive design not only gives the Supersprint exhaust the right sound but also ensures an effective reduction in backpressure, when mated to the full Supersprint system. The Supersprint silencer canister, round cross-section, its overall volume, the inner, perforated core pipe diameter, all work together to best suit this Mercedes V12 bi-turbo engine, and ensure optimum results.
This specific muffler design uses the available space for the exhaust system at its best, and keeps the silencer boxes tucked in and away from the direct air flow running under the car chassis. This feature ensures the least wind resistance. The exclusive Supersprint muffler design also provides the right blend of exciting sound and optimum performance, while never becoming obnoxious, at any rpm.
The Supersprint CL 65 mufflers are available in the quad, 120x80mm elliptical tip design. And finally, the Supersprint exhaust hangers are bolted the canisters, not welded solid; this Supersprint proprietary bolt-on mount system allows for a full range of adjustability upon the installation, and guarantees fine tuning the tips position to the valence built into rear bumper skirt.
X-pipe, mid section

This pipe kit has been developed and built with a special, X-shaped crossover section, placed at the ideal distance from the engine, which equalizes the exhaust gas backpressure between the right and the left side cylinder banks of the Mercedes V12 motor.
The exhaust flow is unrestricted, thanks to the smooth bends of the pipes and to the large, cross section area. This particular feature also enhances the harmonic of the engine exhaust waves, and it guarantees a healthy, sport sound. The routing of the pipes ensures a perfect fitment and the necessary body clearance. No rubbing or rattling against the chassis while driving. All of the Supersprint exhausts are well-known for their flawless fitting, nonetheless.
Turbo downpipes, with 100cpsi Metallic catalytic converters

As the numerous dyno tests made by the Supersprint crew testify, the most restrictive section of the stock exhaust system is the intricate downpipe-cat combo. On this car, changing the rear mufflers alone does not alter the peak performance or the engine torque by any significant amount. As always, in the search for maximum performance, Supersprint attacked the problem with a head-on approach.
By designing a new set of Right & Left downpipes from scratch, which use a constant cross section of 76mm, and mating them to the largest volume, HJS Metallic catalytic converters available, Supersprint accomplished the goal to virtually eliminate any obstruction downstream of the turbochargers. In addition to the oversize piping and the 100 cell count, the Supersprint cats are placed way further downstream in the exhaust line. Placing them at a greater distance from the turbochargers makes the restriction the smallest possible.
The stock exhaust backpressure at 5150 rpm is 0.34bar, while the Supersprint full system only makes 0.19 bar, a reduction of –44%. This immediately translates into more torque at low-mid rpm, and higher HP at peak rpm.
The Supersprint cats, made in Germany by HJS- Emitec, the world leader in technology for performance, Metallic catalytic converters, have a much lower 100 cpsi rating, when compared to the stock 400cpsi or higher cats, and use oversize, 76mm piping before and after the cats. The merging cones are Supersprint’s own design components, and they are designed to offer the smoothest transition from the downpipes in and out of the cats, back into the main exhaust pipes. These features guarantee a dramatic reduction of the exhaust gas backpressure, and allow for a much quicker turbo spool up time, and lower overall operating temperature of the engine.
This Supersprint exhaust component uses before-cat and after-cat Lambda sensor ports, and is totally compatible with the car's own OBD II emission management system.

The final result of the full Supersprint exhaust system is a substantial increase in peak performance and torque, starting from the lower rpm range, all the way the the rev limiter.
An improvement which is easily felt when driving, under all conditions.
A result this good cannot be achieved by any cat-back exhaust only, no matter which design it uses and which pipe size it’s made with. This is the only reason why Supersprint develops and produces full turbo-back systems, as they are the only way possible to real, solid increases in performance.
Everything else available on the market is made just for altering the sound and the looks, while leaving the performance unchanged.
